$32 million value of false Viagra drugs, sneakers, items seized at L.A., long beach ports

more than one million fake erectile dysfunction capsules, counterfeit sneakers, belts, purses and headphones were seized on the los angeles and long seaside seaports, authorities mentioned Thursday.

The seized counterfeit items were found in three containerized cargo shipments from China, in response to a U.S. Customs and Border insurance policy information release.

If the items were actual, officials noted the goods would have had an estimated manufacturer's cautioned retail price of $32,161,194.00.

"Criminals are exploiting e-commerce systems to promote counterfeit and infrequently bad items to unwitting break customers," noted Carlos C. Martel, CBP's director of field operations in la. 

Authorities said counterfeit goods harm the U.S. economy and fund crook activity.

"commercial piracy and product counterfeiting undermine the U.S. financial system, rob american citizens of jobs, stifle American innovation and promote different sorts of crimes," David A. Prince, a special agent for native land security Investigations in l. a., stated in a written commentary. "highbrow property theft quantities to financial sabotage."

This year, CBP has seized 26,503 shipments nationwide containing items that violate highbrow property rights, the agency observed. Had the seized items been specific, the estimated road price would be nearly $1.three billion, officials noted.
